랑리탕빠의 마음 수련을 위한 8가지 서원

Eight Verses of Training the Mind by; Master Langri Tangpa (1054-1123)

 

 

1. 이 세상의 모든 지각 있는 존재가

최상의 행복을 얻기 바라오니,

항상 그들을 이 세상의 어떤 값진 보배보다도

더 소중하게 여기게 하소서.

With a determination to achieve the highest aim
For the benefit of all sentient beings
Which surpasses even the wish-fulfilling gem,

May I hold them dear at all times.

 

2. 사람을 만날 때마다

언제나 나 자신을 가장 미천한 사람으로 여기고,

내 마음 깊은 곳에서

상대방을 최고의 존재로 여기게 하소서.

 

Whenever I interact with someone,
May I view myself as the lowest amongst all,
And, from the very depths of my heart,
Respectfully hold others as superior.

 

3. 내가 하는 나의 모든 행동 속에서

항상 나의 마음을 알아차리게 하여주시고,

내 마음속의 생각과 감정에 고통이 일어날때면-

그 마음이 나 자신과 타인에게 위험이 된다는 사실을 깨달아-

담대함으로 그 마음과 마주해서

그 마음이 소멸되게 하여 주소서.

 

In all my deeds may I probe into my mind,
And as soon as mental and emotional afflictions arise-
As they endanger myself and others-
May I strongly confront them and avert them.

 

4. 나쁜 성격을 갖고 죄와 고통에 억눌린 존재를 볼 때면

마치 귀한 보석을 발견한 것처럼

그들을 귀하게 여기게 하소서.

5. 다른 사람이 시기심으로 나를 욕하고 비난해도

나를 기쁜 마음으로 패배하게 하고 승리는 그들에게 주소서.

 

When others, out of jealousy
Treat me wrongly with abuse, slander, and scorn,
May I take upon myself the defeat
And offer to others the victory.

 

6. 내가 큰 희망을 갖고 도와준 사람이 나를 심하게 해칠 때

그를 최고의 스승으로 여기게 하소서.

 

When someone whom I have helped,
Or in whom I have placed great hopes,
Mistreats me in extremely hurtful ways,
May I regard him still as my precious teacher.

 

7. 그리고 나로 하여금 직접 또는 간접적으로 모든 존재에게

도움과 행복을 줄 수 있게 하소서.

남들이 알지 못하게 모든 존재의 불편함과 고통을

나로 하여금 떠맡게 하소서.

In brief, may I offer benefit and joy
To all my mothers, both directly and indirectly,

May I quietly take upon myself

All hurts and pains of my mothers.

 

8. 이 모든 서원이 매일 나에게 찾아오는

'8가지 불행'의 씨앗으로 인해 변하지 않게 해 주시고,

모든 것이 영원한 실제가 아닌 마음의 환상임을 깨달아

나의 모든 갈애와 집착이 소멸되어

항상 평안 속에 있게 하소서

 

May all this remain undefiled
By the stains of the eight mundane concerns;
And may I, recognizing all things as illusion,
Devoid of clinging, be released from bondage.
